Supporting Community Driven Micro Hydro Initiatives in Rural Africa

Featured on Radio Canada International! On 13 December, 2006, our evaluation partners from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Assistant Professors of Economics Matthieu Chemin and Joost de Laat, were invited to discuss our project and their evaluation of it. This followed the news that the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Trust Africa awarded them CA$50,000 towards the impact evaluation, which they will carry out together with us and their partners at Nairobi University's Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Harvard University, and McGill University. The program was broadcast throughout Africa.

Green Power is building a  community training center! Thanks to a Euro 25k grant through the Netherlands Embassy Small Grant Programme in Nairobi, we are busy constructing a workshop and training center on site. This will provide a place to train local community in maintenance of the generation and distribution installations.

Green Power welcomes Job Harms, a recent graduate from the University College Utrecht, the Netherlands, who will volunteer with us in 2007.
